Pic is kinda dark - looks like it has a shield built in.
I'll never forget buying my first brand-new Bonneville at a showroom in Van Nuys, CA.
Left with a factory shop manual, parts book and a new Bell helmet.
Salesman insisted Bells were overpriced, he had a cheaper brand that was every bit as good. To prove it, he dropped one from about waist high onto the concrete. Broke clean in half, right down the center.

I don't know if this is true but makes sense.

Hadn't heard reason #2, but visibility is always a plus.
I usually put helmet on the seat so's ah don't burn mah biscuits.
